Linda Dorsey School of the Arts (LDSOA) is a performing arts school for children and adults.
LDSOA uses the arts to foster the intellectual, emotional, character, and social development. The school offers training in dance, acting, singing, and performance.
More importantly, the school assists children with their personal development by helping to build confidence, develop self-esteem, and learn teamwork – attributes that are important no matter what a child decides to pursue in life. Our goal is to help children develop through the discipline, grace, and fun of the performing arts.
LDSOA s a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization.was founded in Teaneck, NJ in 1998. LDSOA has now moved to 3700 E. 12 Street, Oakland, CA 94601 and shares space with Kuida Te Fitness Center.
About Linda
Linda Dorsey is a native of Oakland and is a practicing professional performing artist. She has spent the last 20 years as a dancer, singer, actor, teacher and choreographer. She began her career as a principal dancer in Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble. She has toured throughout United States in theaters such as the Lincoln Center, Frank Loesser Theater, Playwrights Horizon and the New York Fringe Festival in New York and Woodminster Amphitheatre, The Willows Theatre and Livermore Opera in California. She has also performed abroad in Italy, Germany, France and Japan. She is a member of the professional actors union Actors Equity Association. Some of her most noted roles are The Acid Queen in "The Who's Tommy", Paulette in "Legally Blonde", Asaka in "Once On This Island" and Ellen Craft in "Ellen Craft: A New Opera." She recently choreographed "Little Shop of Horrors" and "Annie Get Your Gun" at Woodminster Amphitheatre.
She has trained over 1,000 students in the United States and abroad and many students have been accepted to such prestigious institutions as Julliard, Oberlin, the Ivy League, and/or have become professional performers.
Linda studied for her B.A. in Dance at University of California at Irvine, her M.A. in music at New York University and has a teachers certification. She also studied opera at Teatro di Piza in Italy. She is a California State Licensed Daycare Provider.
